Tamil film ‘Kaththi’ starring superstar Vijay is running very strongly at the box office. As per the latest reports, the film has earned more than Rs. 70 crore worldwide. It is expected that within a short time the worldwide box office collection of the film reach the coveted 100 crore mark. On its opening day, the film brought in Rs. 23.08 crore, making it one the biggest openings in Tamil film history. In its home state of Tamil Nadu the film has earned about 36 crore. It earned 4.5 crore from the states of Kerala and Karnataka while 1.5 crore came in from other parts of the country. At the overseas market, the film has done really well and notched up Rs 24 crore taking the total collection to the 70 crore mark. According to trade analysts, if this run continues the film will reach 100 crore by this weekend.
Currently the biggest question, doing the rounds in film trade circles is whether ‘Kaththi’ will be able to earn 100 crore at the domestic box office alone. Till now the Vijay starrer has earned around Rs 50 crore. But reaching the Rs 100 crore mark will be a difficult task. Only three Tamil films have earned this feat so far- ‘Thuppakki’, ‘Sivaji’ and ‘Enthiran’.
